We Love Memphis
Prayer Vigil Campaign

"Spirit now heals and transforms Memphis"

Our gathering on September 4, 2008, at the base of the Pyramid, was a tremendous success.  A dynamic and diverse group came together to pray, meditate and hold the light for this community.

Memphis area New Thought churches and friends will continue to gather to use our spiritual resources to uplift this city so that we truly embody what it means to be the "city of good abode."

An ongoing vigil is held each Monday evening at 9 PM. Like-minded people all over this city pause for prayer and meditation during this time.  You can join in this powerful effort right where you are.

Mission:   The mission of We Love Memphis is to help Memphians demonstrate that prayer and meditation, along with an emphasis on praising the positive aspects of our beloved city, will result in a wholesome new climate of caring and safety, wherein Memphians may live in trust, respect, health and good will.

What Can I Do to Help Memphis?

Train yourself to look for the good things, to listen for the good things going on in Memphis.  All the negative talk would hide the goodness and love that's here, but look and listen to what's right and good and praiseworthy.

Give people the right to their negative thoughts, opinions and words about Memphis, but you have the same right--the right to think, feel, and speak as positively as you wish.  Invite any and all to join you in thinking about a Memphis they would love to live in.  It all begins with the way we think about Memphis.  The way we think about Memphis makes us feel a certain way about Memphis.  And the way we think and feel produces attitudes, from which we act.  Thought>feeling>attitude=act.  Positive, loving thoughts lead to positive, loving feelings and actions.

Go through local newspapers and clip out the news stories that reveal the positive, loving, caring side of Memphians.  Collect them in a folder or album.  You will be amazed at the number you collect each month.  It will not only amaze you, but it will help you become even more aware of how much good there is in Memphis.

When you become aware of Memphians doing good deeds, praise them!

Visit this website regularly.  As We Love Memphis grows, new information will be featured on the website, which will guide you in contacting individuals and faith groups involved with We Love Memphis.  Talk with someone about joining  (or forming) your own We Love Memphis group in your church, club, organization, or in your home.

Remain up-beat about Memphis.  Remain up-beat about yourself...and your neighbor.  That way, you'll be part of the answers that will make Memphis, Tennessee live up to its Egyptian namesake: "The city of good abode."
